Emotionally Close. Socially Distant.

Whether physically closed or open, we will be doing everything in our ability to provide a Jewish experience on campus. To adapt to our new COVID-19 reality, we’ve developed Chabad Cares, a program for the 2020-21 academic year. Its goal is to remain emotionally close, even if we must keep socially distant

Please know that we are not rushing to reopen simply because we are allowed. We will be implementing a series of changes that allow us to be comfortable with the level of risk to our family and community.

We recognize that everyone has a different comfort level, so we are sharing with you a glimpse at the process and conditions for how we would make this decision to open, including:

• As we reopen, we will be following our Chabad Cares Reopening Guide, prepared for us by Chabad on Campus International. It’s a plan based on public health guidelines as well as the State of New Jersey, and Stockton University regulations. It prioritizes your health and safety.
• There will be several new health and safety practices including a reservation system to manage capacity, health check for anyone who enters, and discontinuing the use of shared items.
• Hand sanitizer, masks, and gloves will be placed at any and all entrances and may be required.
• Clear signage detailing relevant changes will be posted throughout the Chabad House.

Though COVID-19 is not foodborne and transmission through food consumption is unlikely to occur, we have put great care into our reopening food plan, with guidance from the CDC. We will be considering one or more of the following options:

• Outdoor Shabbat Dinners
• Shabbat packages to-go
• Pre-plated food; no self serve buffets
• Possible use of disposable versus non-disposable items
• Masks for the individuals preparing and serving food
• Ongoing disinfecting of surfaces

We are excited to create thriving Jewish life and community on campus–safely and responsibly. If you want to check out our plan in action or you just want to schmooze, you know where to find us.
